Warm Mulling Spices were used to make this spiced mulled red wine. What a great recipe for holiday cheer!
Ingredients
1 bottle of red wine
½ cup fresh orange juice
1 bag mulling spices
1 Cinnamon Stick
½ cup brandy or orange-flavored liquor like Cointreau
Instructions
In a large saucepan, combine all ingredients.
Heat wine over medium heat until it reaches a slight simmer.
AVOID BOILING.
Reduce heat to low, cover, and let the liquid simmer for at least 15 minutes or up to 3 hours.
Serve warm in your favorite heat-proof mugs.
Garnish with a fresh orange slice.
Notes
When selecting a red wine choose a fruit-forward red wine that has a high alcohol content with relatively high tannins. Wines like a Shiraz, Zinfandel, Pinot Noir, or Merlot are good choices.
