Apple Pie Filling

Instructions

1. In a large mixing bowl add the first 6 ingredients and mix well.
2. Add Vanilla extract and Squeeze lemon juice over coated apples. Mix well.
3. In a large frying pan combine sugars and butter over medium heat.
4. Allow butter and sugar to become bubbly, creating a caramel, about 3-4 minutes.
5. Lower heat then add apples and toss in caramel. Caramel will seize but will loosen after 1-2 minutes and become smooth.
6. Continue to mix, coating apples in the sauce 3-4 minutes or until apples are slightly tender.
7. If sauce gets too thick add a little water one tablespoon at a time.
8. Once apples are at the desired tenderness, finish with heavy cream and cook for 1 more minute.

Usage and Storage

1. Remove from heat and add to prepared pie crust. Cover and bake for 25-30 minutes.
2. Let cool and store in air-tight, heat-safe/freezer-safe jars and store for up to 90 days in the freezer.
