Tis the season for great soups, and my Ginger Carrot Soup with Garlic Croutons sprinkled with Le Saunier de Camargue Fleur de Sel finishing salt is one you must try!
My favorite part of the holiday season, in addition to the food, is the time and care we put into making each dish. There seems to be an emphasis on adding special touches and fresh ingredients to each meal. Putting that extra touch on a dish, a treat, or a gift really goes a long way. Plus, because we eat with our eyes first, tasty bits of visual interest awakens all the senses to make the dining experience even more exciting.
Gordon Ramsay put it best when he said, “It’s not how you start; it’s how you finish.” There were never more accurate words. My Ginger Carrot Soup is simple to make with great flavors, and the garlic croutons offer a nice texture. But the thing that really sets this soup apart is Le Saunier de Camargue Fleur de Sel.
If you are new to finishing salts, you are in for a treat. Le Saunier de Camargue Fleur de Sel translates to, Salt Masters of Camargue Flower of Salt. This beautiful high-end finishing sea salt is harvested by hand in the South of France in the small town of Aigues Mortes. Le Saunier de Camargue Fleur de Sel has been hand-harvested for nearly 2,000 years by “sauniers” generation after generation.
Ginger Carrot Soup is a mainstay in my kitchen. This soup is filled with fresh ingredients and is quick and easy to make. As a stand-alone, it’s a good soup, but I want it to be great! Garlic Croutons to the rescue. Blended soups are wonderful, but they are better with some pops of texture. I loved finishing my croutons and soup with Le Saunier de Camargue Fleur de Sel. The light, crunchy flakes add such a delicate flavor to my crunchy croutons, which took my carrot soup to the next level. This finishing salt not only enhanced all the ingredients but added balance to the entire dish. It’s lovely as a home cook when I can bring that fine-dining chef-like experience into my kitchen.
